Our journey continues in Brussels after another 2 hour bus ride from Amsterdam. Cold and rainy seemed to be the theme for the weekend, but we didn’t let that stop us. Once we got into Brussels, we had a slight mess up with the AirBnB, so we had to find McDonald’s (for free wifi) and look for another place to stay. No worries, we found a new place easily!
The next day, we got up and headed straight for somewhere with waffles and crepes. That was an easy find considering almost everywhere has waffles and crepes, we are in Belgium. My personal favorite is a crepe with Nutella, strawberries and bananas.
We spent the day walking around looking at all the amazing buildings and searching for an umbrella to help keep us dry. After walking around for a couple hours, we went to get some lunch at the Drug Opera House. The food was amazing! I would recommend it for everyone, although it is a little out of a college student’s price range.
That night was the Colour Festival with a parade and then concert afterwards. We decided to go and ended up getting front row spots to the parade and concert. The hosts talked in French so we had no idea what they were saying, but all the music was in English. They had huge color wheels and dancers for the parade and amazing singers for the concert, check out Emma Bale. It wouldn’t have been a party without lots of confetti, of course.
On our last day in Brussels, we went to the Atonium, which is Brussels version of the Eiffel Tower or Statue of Liberty. It was cool to see even though we did not go up in it. Of course, we grabbed waffles, took some pics, then headed for the airport. Overall, it was a fun weekend filled with little sleep, lots of laughs and tons of adventures.
